Dikshita's research focuses on studying the effect of d- and p- block dopants on the material and photocatalytic properties of SrTiO3. Her project addresses the following key research questions:
• Using earth-abundant elements, how can wide bandgap absorbers be tuned such that visible light could be absorbed without introducing any mid-gap trap states or/and negatively affecting the catalytic activity of the surface?
• Which non-precious B3+ dopants on the B-site of the ABO3 perovskite would achieve visible light absorption? Could we engineer a mid-gap states free visible light catalyst with co-doping strategies?
• Could doping with d3 and d10 B-ions improve the photo-catalytic activity of SrTiO3 by forcing all Ti sites to be in the 4+ state?
• Can sol-gel Pechini synthesis of SrTiO3 control oxygen vacancy concentrations?
• How do 0D defects such as vacancies or 1D crystallographic defects such as dislocations affect the properties of the materials?
