Ibbi's research focuses on developing innovative methodologies for manufacturing and characterizing thin films and coatings with applications in thermal management in electronic, optoelectronics, and solar energy. Specifically, his project aims to unravel the intricate interplay between dopants, defects, and their energetic and structural disorder in main group metal oxide perovskites. This project is particularly focused on oxygen-deficient Barium Stannate (BaSnO₃-x), as it possesses the unique property of generating optically active valent ns2 lone pair states when containing dopants and defects.
